This is another rare survivor, having been an ex-Ford car built in September 1967, owned by Ove Andersson for many years, and never having been restored.
Ove was contracted to Ford as a rally driver, winning the London Gulf rally (June 1967) in a Mk2 Lotus Cortina UVW 924E. He was also the co-driver of VVW 506E, the Mk2 Lotus Cortina entered in the London – Sydney Marathon piloted by Roger Clark.
The car was sold by Siverstone Auctions at the NEC Classic Car Show in 2014, and they gave this description of the car:
In competition the Mk2 followed on from the Mk 1 and was a worthy stopgap till the Escort arrived. In 1967/68, Ove Andersson was a contracted race and rally driver for the Ford Motor Company, this Cortina Lotus Mk 2 was purchased by him from the factory on 14th March 1969. It still carries the famous series of works registration ‘XOO 260F’ and the history file contains the original invoice showing the chassis number. It was used by Andersson in Sweden for many competition events, mainly ice racing.
It returned to the UK in 2009 and was reunited with its original registration. This significant Ford Cortina Lotus has never been restored and is in remarkably original condition with none of its history removed. Even the period driver’s bucket seat is present together with the original standard item. Over the last four years the car has been serviced and maintained by renowned rally specialists BGMsport. Work has included a full engine rebuild, rear axle rebuild including the limited slip differential and the car comes with a full MoT.

These are Microcell Contour seats as fitted to the works Lotus Cortina and Escort rally cars, and a popular upgrade in period. It was normal practice to have a fixed driver seat and a reclining passenger seat, so that one of the crew could take a nap between stages. You could get matching upholstery seats, but I guess function was more important than aesthetics for this car!
